Our pools are available for lap swimming, diving, aqua aerobics classes, swimming lessons and pool parties. All aquatic areas are patrolled by qualified lifeguards.

Matt Cowdrey Competition pool

Our heated 50 metre competition pool features 10 lanes. The movable boom and windows allows the pool to be used in 25 metre mode, when it features 20 lanes. The pool is named after 13-time Paralympic Gold Medal swimmer, Matt Cowdrey. 

Water Polo pool

Our 25 metre pool features 10 lanes and accommodates water polo.

Dive pool and boards

Our 25 metre pool features four lanes. The diving area has concrete platforms consisting of 10 metres, 7.5 metres, five metres and three metres, plus 3x three metre springboards, 5x one metre springboards and an adjustable springboard. There is also a dry-land diving area that incorporates foam pits and trampolines for divers to practice their skills on.

The three metre platform and springboards are often available for the public to dive from.

Program pool

Our 25 metre heated indoor pool features six lanes and available for lap swimming, aqua aerobics, swimming lessons and aqua play. It features a 25 metre access ramp and adjoining jet pool. We welcome bookings for school programs.

Learners pool

Our shallow 15 metre learners pool is suitable for toddlers and young children learning to swim with the aid of their parents. It's also used for some of our aquatic classes.

Splash park and toddler pool

Suited for those under the age of 10, Splash Park's major features are the two small water slides and the "Big Bucket". The Big Bucket fills itself with water and once it reaches a certain level it tips from a great height and splashes water over all those that stand under or nearby it providing endless fun. The Splash Park is open at various hours through the day and may change due to bookings. The current opening times for the Splash Park are:

Waterslides [closed for refurbishment]

Our two water slides are considered to be among the fastest slides in Australia. The slides are available to children who are 10 years and older, over 120cm AND who are competent swimmers. Our Space Bowl slide is 75 metres in length and after going through a series of twists and turns it sends you round and round the space bowl before you pop out the bottom. Our Aqua Tube is about speed and for most of the time you are in total darkness with circles of rainbow lighting your way at intermittent times throughout the ride. [closed for refurbishment]

Steam Room and Sauna Room [Service currently unavailable]

Our sauna and steam room are available to use by members and casual visitors over 16 years of age for an additional cost. These rooms will be closed if the temperature is 36 degrees Celsius or higher and will re-open once temperature is below 36 degrees Celsius.

Wibit Inflatable obstacle course

Our Wibit inflatable obstacle course is available to the public on selected weekends and school holidays for children over six years old (and their parents or guardians depending on the child's ability). It includes monkey bars, a rope swing, a bridge, an action tower, slides and a climbing wall. Sessions are 60 minutes and include a 10 minute safety talk.

  • Watch Around Water Policy Information

    At YMCA Victoria we are a Watch Around Water endorsed aquatic safety organisation. The following information is the new watch around water policy launched in centre from 1 September 2019.

    Watch Around Water is a set of industry guidelines outlining the minimum supervision requirements of young children at all affiliated aquatic venues.

    Children under 5 years old

    All Children MUST be accompanied into the Centre by a person over the age of 18 and supervised within arms’ reach, at all times in the water.

    All children MUST wear a pink wristband supplied by YMCA staff to help identify their age while swimming.

    Children will not be admitted without a full fee paying parent/guardian who must also be in the water at all times. Groups will not be admitted entry where the number of parents/guardians supervising a group of children under 5 years exceeds the ratio of 1:2 (effective September 1 2019).

    Children under 10 years old

    All Children under the age of 10 MUST be accompanied into the Centre by a person over the age of 18. All children MUST be actively supervised by an adult over the age of 18 at all times. The adult must have a clear and active view of the child with no physical or structural barriers between them (this includes tech and devices).

    All children MUST wear a yellow wristband supplied by YMCA staff to help identify their age while swimming. Groups will not be admitted entry where the number of parents/guardians supervising a group of children under 10 years exceeds the ratio of 1:4.

    Birthday Parties

    All children under the age of 10 MUST be accompanied into the Centre by a person over the age of 18 and handed over to the supervision of the birthday party leader (staff member).

    All birthday party participants must wear a BLUE wristband AND an age based wristband (pink or yellow) to identify their participation in a party (effective September 1 2019). The adult guardian of the birthday party child MUST remain accessible and actively supervise the group at all times.

    At the conclusion of the birthday party the child/children will remain in the supervision of the birthday party leader and supervising parent until physically handed over to their supervising parent/guardian.
