• COVID-19 Response

This year has seen many changes and challenges; however, we are proud of the planning we have done and the procedures that have been put in place to prioritise your safety.

Please be assured that we adhere to all State Government regulations. We have implemented the following procedures to ensure increased safety:

    • We adhere to current density requirements of 1 person per 2 square metres. Signage is provided in different rooms to indicate maximum occupancy which must be adhered to.
    • Class capacity of Group Fitness has been reduced (as per the 1 person per 2 square metre rule).
    • Masks are recommended by SA Health and are available from Front Desk. Please note that this is not mandatory.
    • Please bring your own gym towel. Towels are available from Front Desk for $2.50
    • Please bring your own drink bottle. Fountains are unavailable.
    • Please bring your own mat.
    • Wipe down your equipment and lockers after use. Anti-bacterial wipes are available throughout the Gym.
    • We have a total of six COVID Marshals (five area Marshals and 1 dedicated Marshal) operating at any one time. Our Marshals are easily identifiable in high visibility vests and oversee that all aspects of our Centre's COVID Safe Plan are being maintained. Each COVID Area Marshal provides support to the Centre COVID Marshal on duty.
    • Hand sanitiser is available at entry and exit points and throughout the Centre.
    • 1.5m social distancing practices are expected and reinforced by directional signage, floor markings and alternative exits are used for traffic flow management.
    • We are meticulously cleaning the Centre. Any surfaces that are frequently touched are prioritised for sanitisation, with professional cleaners sanitising our facilities daily.
    • Ample signage throughout the Centre supporting social distancing, hygiene practices and the important part we all play in keeping each other safe.
    • Extra time allocation at the end of each Group Fitness Class for members and guests to clean and pack away equipment.
    • Pre-bookings for Group Fitness Classes, Pool visits, Steam Room and Sauna are essential to help manage venue capacity.
    • Customers who are unwell are not permitted to enter the facility.

Update 1 December 2020

Swimming Lessons Return 1 December

We are delighted to inform you that Swimming Lessons will restart today, Tuesday 1 December 2020 from 3.30pm. Philbert and all the staff have missed your wonderful smiles, special swimming moments and of course all the fun.

Summer is just around the corner and we strongly recommend making the most of every lesson you have remaining for 2020. It is important that children and students gain the skills they need to be confident and safer in and around water. In addition, the Summer Break is almost upon us with our 2020 program finishing on Sunday 20 December and restarting on 11 January 2021.

If you have any make-up lessons owing for 2020 please be sure to book them in as soon as possible.

We have introduced a few initiatives to make up for lost time. They are:

  • Extend the make-up lessons from 2020 to January 30 2021 to give you more time to catch up on classes missed during 2020
Extended program to Sunday 20 December 2020 to get back lost time due to the extended COVID-19 Centre closure
  • We continue with Safety Week on your return to increase your child’s water safety. This will be running from 1 - 6 December 2020. Read more about Safety Week here.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO NEXT:

  • Download the mySA Gov app.
  • From 1 December, please check-in via this app each time you visit the Centre with your family (please note Apple users will be able to scan the QR code using their phone camera until the Apple version is updated and available on Tuesday afternoon).
  • Bring only one parent per child attending where possible (due to new capacity restrictions).
  • Arrive 10 minutes prior to your lesson.
  • Families can leisure swim after their lesson on lesson day only. Please limit this to 20 minutes only to help us maintain capacity restrictions (unfortunately leisure swimming is currently not available on weekends).

DIRECT DEBIT INFORMATION:

  • Your first direct debit back will occur on Thursday 10 December 2020.
  • Information will be sent to your email in the coming days with details regarding suspension options over the Summer Break. Summer Break Information will also be available at the Front Desk.
  • Your Membership will be activated under the terms of your membership contract and the direct debit arrangements that were in place before your membership was placed on suspension.

THANK YOU
The SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre swim school has been recognised by AUSTSWIM as Swim School of the year. This recognition has come about because of the support from YOU and YOUR family. We firmly believe that YOU make the difference to all we do.

New Government QR Code Check-In Process

The mySA GOV app will have the COVID Safe Check-In feature added which you can use to scan the Centre's QR Code on entry. Please note Apple users will be able to scan the code using their mobile phone camera until the Apple version is updated and available (on Tuesday afternoon).

This new Government QR Code replaces the existing QR code process we were using. Read more about the Government QR Code Check-In feature here.

Please note children attending with parents do not need to check-in with this QR Code process however, they still are required to scan their wristbands at the entry gates.

You will receive a text confirmation when you check-in. Please have this ready to present at the Front Desk when entering the Centre.

Aqua Classes Returning 2 December

We are excited to announce some great news that Aqua Group Fitness Classes will return tomorrow, Wednesday 2 December 2020!

We also have some important updates that you need to be aware of when you next visit the Centre.

Please stand by for more information on reopening

We understand the new Emergency Services Directive (Directive 13) is to be published at 12am Saturday. This will provide guidance for our operations to possibly open on Sunday. As you can appreciate, we were all preparing for a six-day lock down. It is great that we have all played our part in only making it three.

We are working hard to prepare our staff and the Centre. We aim to do this as quick as possible and have the Centre back up and operating. Please stand by. Your safety has been, and always will be, our top priority.

Update 16 November 2020

The SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre is temporarily closed from 17 November 2020

The South Australia State Government announced that Gyms and Recreation Centres must be closed for a period of two weeks from midnight tonight, Monday 16 November 2020. In line with these restrictions, the SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre will therefore be temporarily closed from tomorrow, Tuesday 17 November 2020.

All memberships, including Gym & Swim and Swimming Lessons, will automatically be placed on suspension during the closure with no direct debit payments taken out of your account. And, all casual service visits paid for in advance will be honoured upon reopening (including Lap Swimming, Personal Training, Aqua Sensory Play and Leisure Swimming).

The government is advising people to work from home where possible, vulnerable people to stay at home and for people to wear masks where possible. We know this is disappointing, but the government is making decisions with the best interests of our community in mind, and we must all work together to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Please note, there may be increased wait times when calling our phone number due to reduced staff and increased demand. We thank you for your support and patience during this time.

Update 6 November 2020

We are now taking enrolments and bookings for the Creche

We are excited to advise you the Crèche will be reopening Tuesday 10 November. We look forward to providing quality care for your children.

Please note that the Crèche, like all other areas of the State of South Australia, the South Australian Aquatic & Leisure Centre is governed by COVID-19 restrictions and our COVID-19 Management Plan. Hence, we will be operating on lower capacity number based on 1 person per 2 square metres. Please note that in a Crèche, this means we need to measure children with the various play and activity positions considered - ie we are not measuring the 1 person per 2 square metres as per people standing vertical. This is rather being measured horizontal.

The maximum number of Crèche bookings per session is 10, with SA Government ratios applied for age groups per session (maximum of 4 children aged 6 weeks to 2 years per session, and a maximum of 6 children aged 2 years to pre-school age per session).

Crèche days of operation (from 10 November 2020):
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays

Crèche session times:
Session 1: 8.30am - 10.05am
Session 2: 10.10am - 11.45am

To get started:
1. Complete an enrolment form
As it has been eight months since we have been able to offer you the Crèche services, we wish to advise you that we will need all children attending to complete an updated enrolment form.
Enrolment form is available for download on the Creche webpage here

2. Read the Crèche Family Handbook and sign the acknowledgement form on the last page
Creche Family Handbook is available for download on the Creche webpage here

3. Submit your enrolment form, with supporting documents as detailed on the front page of the enrolment form and the signed acknowledgement form to the front desk

4. Make a booking
You can book your space:

a. Over the phone during Crèche hours (see session times above) by calling the centre on (08) 8198 0198 and following the prompts for the Crèche. For phone bookings outside of Crèche operating hours, please leave a message and our staff will call you as soon as possible. Please note that the Crèche voicemail will be checked the morning of Monday 9 November.
b. In person bookings outside of Crèche operating hours (see session times above) at the Front Desk.

At this stage we are unable to offer these services/spaces. These space may be looked at in future steps. The SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre are working hard on social distancing and traffic flows. We are working together with all partners and think at this time this area will be better served when further restrictions are eased.

  • Are SASI and Marion Squads training in this time?
Yes. The SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre is built for the community and High-Performance Swimming, Diving and Water Polo. All these groups are also members of the SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre. Some of these groups have paved the way for our reopening. This is a world first and these groups have assisted in creating a case study for how to open safely.
  • Is the Gym or Swimming Lessons available?
No, not at this stage. We are working with Federal and State Government regulations and will advise the community of a re-start date.
  • Is the Steam Room or Sauna Room available?
No. These two services are advised by legislation not to open in step 1 – easing of restrictions.

23 March 2020 Update

Gyms and indoor sporting venues to shutdown Australia-wide

All program activities at the SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre will be suspended from 12pm (noon), Monday 23 March 2020. This closure will stay in effect until the relevant authorities advise of a possible reopening date. The closure follows the Federal Government’s announcement on Sunday 22 March to close all non-essential services which includes all gyms and indoor sporting venues nationwide to limit the exposure and transmission of COVID-19.

The following services are suspended from 12pm (noon), Monday 23 March 2020.

The loss of access to our pools, gym facilities and fitness programmes will be difficult for the community, but the team at the SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre urges all members and visitors to understand the devastating and fatal impacts that Covid-19 can have, particularly on those most vulnerable in our community, and the need for a unified national responses.

We cannot stress strongly enough the importance of social distancing and good personal hygiene as a safeguard for ourselves, our families and our community. These are the most powerful protections that we have against the virus while medical science races to develop a vaccine.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19 it is also important that we recognise the common symptoms of infection and that we self-isolate and report them if they appear. Symptoms can include fever, cough, sore throat and shortness of breath. If you have these symptoms it is imperative that you call your GP or the Coronavirus Health Information Line on 1800 020 080 for information on what to do next.
