    • Safety Swim

The purpose of the safety swim is to assess participants swimming abilities. Lifeguards are not there to teach participants how to swim, instead, we're identifying weak, non-swimmers, and strong swimmers to determine who is safe to participate in high-risk deep-water activities. A competent swimmer is someone who can confidently swim 25m unaided, without goggles (unless prescription), lifejackets, assistance from a parent, or touching the pool edge during the swim.

      Safety Swim Standard (Step-by-step)
To pass, all steps must be completed:

      1. Jump & Submerge. Be able to confidently resurface after submerging.
      2. Swim to Cone. Swim back to the wall in deep water.
      3. Tread Water for 15 Seconds. Stay afloat in deep water.
      4. Swim Back to Wall. Complete the swim back confidently.

      FAQS

Participant(s) completed the 25m but the lifeguard failed them, why?
If a participant did not confidently complete the 4 step standard, lifeguards would of failed the participant. If the participant is already struggling to complete 25m, it is not safe to participate in the waterslides.

      Can I do a retest?
Yes, we can retest at the discretion of a lifeguard supervisor, however whilst lifeguards encourage participation we prioritise on safety. Water and water depth does not discriminate, our focus is safety first and foremost and we will never compromise on safety.
