SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre has a team of accredited Exercise Physiologists who are university qualified allied health professionals.
Exercise Physiologists specialise in the prevention, treatment and management of chronic disease and injuries through exercise. Your Exercise Physiologist will work in conjunction with your other treating health professionals (e.g. GP, physiotherapist, dietitian) to develop a tailored exercise program which includes: exercise delivery, advice and support, and assistance with successfully changing lifestyle behaviours.
Our Exercise Physiologists provide individual and small group consultations in both the gym and hydrotherapy pool onsite.

Ways to access services
Medicare Enhance Primary Care Plan (EPC)
Individual services (5 per year) are bulk billed provided the patient is referred by a GP with a Team Care Arrangement and GP Management Plan.
Type 2 diabetes referral
For those diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, Exercise Physiology services are bulk-billed, including 1 assessment and 8 pool and/or gym group sessions
Private sessions are available at the Centre with many health funds recognising Exercise Physiology services and offering a substantial rebate. The SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre is equipped with a HICAPS terminal which allows all payments to be processed on the spot.
The NDIS offer funding for Allied Health Services related to a person’s disability – this incorporates Exercise Physiology. Funding for Exercise Physiology can come from one of two budget areas in an NDIS plan:
- Capacity building – Improved Daily Living
- Capacity building – Improved Health and Wellbeing
Accredited Exercise Physiologists can tailor programs for people with disabilities that address critical needs, such as:
- improved daily living capabilities
- improved mental and physical health and well-being
- the ability to engage in the community including social activities
- overall strength and capacity improvements.
Department of Veteran's Affairs
If you are an eligible Veteran with a DVA White or Gold card, you may be able to access Exercise Physiology services. Exercise Physiology can help through the delivery of clinical exercise to manage chronic disease or post-hospital exercise rehabilitation for treatment of a major injury or illness.
Work Cover/Motor Vehicle Accident
Our Exercise Physiologists can work on achieving the client’s rehabilitation needs and goals following a referral from a GP and case manager approval.
To attend any of our services, an initial assessment with one of our Accredited Exercise Physiologists must be completed. This is so we can determine your health status, exercise history and current physical abilities. A tailored exercise program will be developed following your initial assessment which can be utilised in your sessions of choice.

Clinical Reformer Class
Classes are facilitated by an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and are designed to help manage chronic conditions or continue with rehabilitation, with the aim of improving balance, mobility, and functional movement. All programs are individually prescribed and designed to suit your individual needs.
Chair-Based Mindful Movement Class
Our Chair-Based Mindful Movement Classes are a low impact chair-based exercise modality focussing on mind-body connection and breathing control. The purpose of this class is to improve balance, mobility, and flexibility through a mix of static and dynamic poses and breathing exercises. The class is beginner friendly and suitable for people of all experience levels.

Meet our Team
Mark has a wide range of experience in completing clinical assessments, providing gym, pool or home programs to suit the client’s personal needs. As an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, Mark is able to treat a wide range of condition’s including musculoskeletal, diabetes, arthritis, osteoporosis, and respiratory disorders with special interest in cardiovascular conditions.
Tara graduated from Flinders University with a Bachelor of Business. She has a wealth of experience in customer service and administration and brings these skills to facilitate an efficiently managed clinic..With a friendly and caring nature, Tara brings her enthusiasm for customer satisfaction to assisting with all enquiries. Tara supports clients with general appointment bookings, assistance with referrals and can answer all financial queries.
Alex has developed a keen passion for utilising exercise to improve physical function and exposing people to the psychological benefits that come with exercise. Using an individualised approach, Alex aims to guide and assist individuals with chronic conditions to meet their own goals and ultimately improve their overall quality of life.
Ben aims to assist his clients in managing their clinical conditions with exercise. His interest and passion in exercise and biology helps him to create tailored and structured exercise programs to meet the individual needs and conditions of his clients. Whether it be rehabbing an injury, managing cardiac conditions, improving balance or reducing pain, Ben prides himself in helping his clients leave happier and more capable than when they entered.
Jess has always been passionate about health and fitness, with more than 8 years’ experience working within the exercise delivery field. She has always had a special interest in rehabilitation and helping people manage their chronic health conditions, so with her strong work ethic and excellent interpersonal skills it was a natural progression for Jess to become an Accredited Exercise Physiologist.
As an ESSA accredited exercise physiologist Alex has built on this interest and is able to use exercise to manage a range of clinical conditions. Working at SA Aquatic centre, Alex utilises the excellent facilities to provide home, gym or water based programs to tailor a program centred on your needs and goals.
Brittany became an Accredited Exercise Physiologist with the intention of delivering a gold standard exercise experience to all clients. After spending years in a competitive sporting environment, she has seen the positive effects exercise can have on someone’s physical and psychological health.
Chloe is a positive and caring, patient centred Accredited Exercise Physiologist with a strong interest in improving the functional capacity and quality of life of her clients. With a yoga teacher training course to accompany her Exercise Physiology degree, Chloe understands there are many different aspects to exercise and therefore certain types of exercise that are best suited to each individual. Chloe is focused on using the best current evidence in order to empower her clients to facilitate the best possible self-management of their conditions.
