Are you passionate about swimming and love working with children? SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre is seeking enthusiastic individuals like you to join our team as Swim Teachers! As a Swim Teacher, you'll have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of our community, helping them develop essential swimming skills while promoting water safety.

If you have a nationally recognised swim teacher qualification and a genuine desire to teach and inspire young swimmers, we want to hear from you.

About you

  • You are passionate about inspiring and developing water safety and swimming skills in Adults, children and young people
  • Personal attributes such as patience, respect, and enthusiasm which will take you far as a Swim Teacher
  • You have always enjoyed Swimming and understand the importance of teaching safety skills to the community
  • Demonstrate a passion and enthusiasm to teach children to swim
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service to parents and students alike
  • Are motivated and committed to perform to a high standard
  • Are friendly, polite, and approachable at all times
  • Are honest, reliable and enthusiastic
  • Can work weekends

Training Package

SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre's Become a Swim Teacher Training Package covers the cost of all courses plus guidance and support during training before employment. This will be a supported developmental opportunity for people who require guidance and people looking to walk straight into a position here at SAALC after the training.

Qualifications and checks will you gain:

  • Working With Children Check
  • Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety
  • Provide First Aid
  • CPR
  • Through their Eye’s Training
  • National Police Check

About the role (post qualifications and CRIMTRAC)

Following the successful completion of the above qualifications and checks you will be offered a Swimming Teacher role at the SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre where you will be:

  • Delivering lesson plans that promote swimming skill building in school aged children, combining stroke development with water safety and enhancing the overall confidence and ability of your students.
  • Teaching lessons with appropriate activities that challenge and develop your students swimming and water safety ability.
  • Teaching and model effective problem-solving skills and conflict resolution skills.
