We are excited to soon introduce a new level into our program to bring significant upgrades to our Swimming Lessons school-aged curriculum! This new level will be located after Sardine and before Salmon in our school-aged program. The new curriculum has been developed to enhance your Swimming Lesson journey and is designed to provide an improved learning experience for all our swimmers. The name of the new level will be revealed on Monday, 23 October, so stay tuned for the big reveal!
Mystery Character Competition
October holds a special surprise. The Mystery Character Competition is running now until Sunday, 15 October. Our new underwater friend is currently a mystery, and we are excited for our Swimming Lesson members to guess what animal they think it is. Pick up an activity sheet from the Centre.
Why the change?
Our commitment to promoting swimming and water safety has directed us to refine the curriculum to benefit our students. By adding the new level after Sardine, we aim to provide a program that allows students to strengthen their swimming, improve water safety knowledge, further develop their skills, introduce Breaststroke earlier in the program and increase the frequency of student progression. We are excited to share that there will be some minor adjustments to the skill requirements and assessment criteria for different levels in the preschool and school-aged curriculum. These updates will soon be accessible on our website for your reference.
What does this mean for Sardine levels?
Starting from Monday, October 23, your class will transition to the new Mystery Level with updated skill requirements. During the week of October 16, we will assess the skills of all Sardine students to align them with the new criteria, and you will receive an email informing you of these updates. Your lesson location and time will remain the same.
What does this mean for Octopus levels?
In the week starting 16 October, Octopus level will be assessed in their regular lesson. If they meet the new assessment criteria, they will progress into Sardine. Our Sardine level will now be located in the leisure pool with distances matching our new curriculum.
Remember, that you can check the skills learnt in your last assessment by logging in to your online customer portal. View your assessments in the menu under “My Accounts” > “Skills”.
What skills will be learnt in the new mystery character level?

•Continuing freestyle arm movement with alternate side breathing
•Mastering backstroke with continual, relaxed flutter kicks and introduction to windmill arms
•Introducing Breaststroke kick with bending at the hips, heel drop, and circular whip kick action on their back
